1. Professional Broadcasting Cannot Be Done with Consumer Home Modems
The biggest mistake made in field productions is attempting to conduct professional live broadcasts using portable consumer modems (such as Superbox) designed for daily home use. In consumer modem setups, three fundamental problems are inevitable:
•Modems Overheat and Lose Power During Prolonged Use: Consumer modems are not designed for hours of continuous high upload traffic. As the broadcast duration extends, the device overheats, its processor throttles to protect itself, and upload speeds drop dramatically right in the middle of the broadcast.
•The Entire Load Rests on the Modem: When streaming directly to YouTube from a production computer (vMix, etc.) and someone says, "Let's also send the feed simultaneously to Facebook, Instagram, and a TV channel," the bandwidth load of every newly opened channel falls directly onto the modem in the field.
•Quality Degradation and Broadcast Dropouts: Already connected to a single line and losing power due to overheating, the modem cannot handle the multi-stream load. The image quality (bitrate) has to be reduced, or the broadcast freezes and drops at the most critical moment.
